FACTS:

This is a fun competitive tournament with a mission – helping to fund breast cancer programs in Jacksonville.  If you are not able to participate, please make a contribution to help us continue to make a difference.

The RITA Championships   This is the Largest Charity Tennis Event in NE Florida!   May 18-19-20, 2012   Proceeds will benefit breast cancer research and  breast cancer programs.   Check back for information for the 2012 event.           Results 2012:

• The event is open to women.
• This is a doubles event.
• A 10-point tie breaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
• Our Friday starting time of 6 p.m. allow working women to participate.
• Our new format, called a compass draw, will provide three and possibly four matches for each team, regardless of wins or losses.
• Finals for ALL divisions will be held on Sunday at JGCC, along with a tournament party for all players.
• This event is expected to fill up fast, so register early!
• Last day of registration is April 1 - unless full.
• Starting times will be available April 6th at 3 pm ON THIS WEB PAGE.

 

Cost

$75 per person
Includes Local Pro Invitation & Draw Party food, drinks, balls, players party on Sunday and tournament gift.

Deadline

Friday, April 1st
Divisions will be filled on a first come basis and may fill before the deadline date.

 

Program

Thursday, April 7th

Local Pro Invitational & Draw Party at 6 pm Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.

Free for players, $10 Donation for spectators.

 

Friday, April 8th

Tournament begins at all three sites at 6 pm.

Food, beverages and margaritas will be provided.

 

Saturday, April 9th

Tournament continues at all three sites.

Breakfast, lunch, beverages & margaritas will be provided.

 

Sunday, April 10th

Tournament continues at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club. Finals party for everyone at 12 noon.

 

 

RITA, Research Is The Answer, continues to fund local breast cancer research, education, awareness and patient programs.  Special events, like the RITA Championships, generate our revenue.  We then donate 100% of those net proceeds to several Jacksonville breast cancer programs. Since our beginning in 1997, over $2,800,000 has been donated.   RITA is the largest contributor to the Baptist Cancer Institute with over $750,000 donated.   Proceeds have helped purchase state of the art mammography equipment at Shands Jacksonville. Mayo Clinic has used RITA grants to fund basic cancer research program. Breast cancer survivors have been helped by grants to the Bosom Buddies support Group at the Women’s Center of Jacksonville.   The ‘Best Benefit of All’ is that all of us...you, The RITA Foundation, the local Breast Cancer programs ... are making progress in finding a cure.
